White Wine.

Sharp, Complex, Mineral.

Is Arinto the best white grape in Portugal? It's definitely high up the list of contenders. And of the best places to plant this grape, the Lisbon region, and particularly Óbidos, has to be up there too.

Quinta Várzea da Pedra is cool project led by Tomas and Alberto Emidio on their family estate just outside of the town of Bombarral. This sits within the subregion of Óbidos, an area that swirls with cold, humid Atlantic winds which lock amazing acidity into the grapes.

This already crunchy variety gets a double dose of bright acidity and through its slow maturation it also develops a lot of complexity. Prime time!

To make the wine, the grapes were fermented in steel with native yeasts and then the wine chilled out on fine lees for 10 months.

Why We Love This Wine!

I'm a big sucker for good Arinto. So much complexity and unique nutty, citrussy characater packed into a tight, fresh body. The Arinto from QVP is such a banger too. It shows the elite precision that this variety can have reflective of the fresh coastal conditions it was grown in. Killa drop!
